Veteranos do CIF no Lava Cup 2026

O CIF irá marcar presença na edição de 2026 da Lava Cup International 7-a-side Grassroots Senior Tournament, um dos mais prestigiados torneios internacionais de futebol sénior amador.

A competição decorrerá no sábado, 23 de maio de 2026, na cidade de Glasgow, Escócia, tendo como palco o Petershill Park. O torneio reunirá vinte equipas provenientes de dez países diferentes, promovendo não apenas o futebol, mas também valores de amizade, inclusão, solidariedade e bem-estar.

Criada em 2022, a Lava Cup tem vindo a afirmar-se como um evento internacional de referência no futebol grassroots sénior, destacando-se pela forte componente social e comunitária. Entre os principais objetivos da organização estão a promoção da saúde física e mental, a angariação de fundos para instituições locais, entre as quais o Partick Thistle Charitable Trust, e a criação de ligações entre equipas de diferentes culturas e geografias.

A edição de 2026 terá ainda um troféu muito especial, produzido com lava vulcânica proveniente da Islândia, recolhida após a erupção de Sundhnúkur, perto de Grindavík.

A presença do CIF nesta competição reforça a sua tradição no futebol amador e o seu compromisso com os valores do desporto, da amizade e da convivência internacional.

No programa oficial do torneio, o Presidente do CIF, Fernando Magiolo Magarreiro, destacou que os princípios da Lava Cup promovem o bem-estar físico e mental, apoiam instituições locais, fomentam ligações internacionais e dão visibilidade a equipas de zonas remotas, valores que considera profundamente alinhados com a identidade histórica do Clube Internacional de Foot-Ball.

A equipa CIF/ESPARTANOS terá assim a oportunidade de representar Portugal e o CIF num evento que promete reunir equipas, culturas e histórias de todo o mundo, numa verdadeira celebração do futebol.

CIF will be taking part in the 2026 edition of the Lava Cup International 7-a-side Grassroots Senior Tournament, one of the most prestigious international amateur senior football tournaments.

The competition will take place on Saturday 23 May 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, at Petershill Park. The tournament will bring together twenty teams from ten different countries, promoting not only football but also the values of friendship, inclusion, solidarity and well-being.

Established in 2022, the Lava Cup has established itself as a leading international event in senior grassroots football, standing out for its strong social and community focus. Among the organisation’s main objectives are the promotion of physical and mental health, fundraising for local charities, including the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust, and the creation of links between teams from different cultures and regions.

The 2026 edition will also feature a very special trophy, crafted from volcanic lava sourced from Iceland, collected following the eruption of Sundhnúkur near Grindavík.

CIF’s participation in this competition reinforces its long-standing tradition in amateur football and its commitment to the values of sport, friendship and international cooperation.

In the tournament’s official programme, CIF President Fernando Magiolo Magarreiro highlighted that the principles of the Lava Cup promote physical and mental wellbeing, support local institutions, foster international connections and raise the profile of teams from remote areas, values he considers to be deeply aligned with the historical identity of the Clube Internacional de Foot-Ball.

The CIF/ESPARTANOS team will thus have the opportunity to represent Portugal and the CIF at an event that promises to bring together teams, cultures and stories from all over the world, in a true celebration of football.
